"Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you,
doesn't mean you can, should, or need to do it alone."
                                                   -- Lisa Olivera

In these unprecedented times, it is important to take care of ourselves physically and mentally.  Over the years, experts have encouraged children, teens and adults to open up about our thoughts and emotions, otherwise known as our mental health.  It is important to recognize healthy vs unhealthy mental health.  Discussing mental health makes the topic acceptable among those suffering from mental illnesses to seek help, learn to cope, and get on the road to recovery.   The more we talk of mental health, the more it becomes a way of well-being and not of illness; it becomes a way being positive and emotionally stable.

In addition to our counseling team here to support our students with academics and post-secondary education/career choices, we are lucky to have three health professionals in the field of mental health, also known as Social and Emotion Support.  Read about our team below.

Introduction to Mental Health Team

 Eydie Pankow

I’m Eydie Pankow, the School Psychologist here at Columbine. As the School Psychologist I have two roles: working with students receiving special education services and those within the general education programs. I partner with teachers, school administrators and counselors to provide both direct and indirect services to create connections between students, families and our school community. Services provided include individual assessment for special education placement, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling and conflict resolution.

About Me

I’m originally from Tucson, Arizona, graduating from the University of Arizona with my Bachelor’s degree in Education and my Master’s in Educational Psychology. After getting married, we moved to Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio. I completed my post-graduate education at John Carroll University, receiving my Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology. After living ten years on the shores of Lake Erie, my husband and I were thrilled to move back “out west!” I’ve worked in parochial, alternative and other public schools, but I will be a Rebel for Life, here at Columbine! My husband, son and I love hiking in the fantastic Colorado foothills.
